We have been working on several papers concerning Social Science Data Libraries and Librarianship, concerning both cyberinfrastructure and curriculum development. Specifically:
The manifesto argues that universities should undertake substantially increased investments in social science data libraries, comparable to their commitments for conventional libraries.
The curriculum papers argue for the creation of new university level curricula in social science data librarianship. The IASSIST verison of the paper discusses alternative institutional homes for such SSDL curriculum offerings, whereas the UCB SIMS version is a specific proposal for such a curriculum at UCB School of Information Management.
The views expressed in these papers are solely those of the authors and do not reflect policies of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California Berkeley, University of California, the Department of Energy, or the United States Government.
